Project Overview
This is a large-scale HVAC MEP project involving the supply and installation of 320 Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) units across multiple phases (PH1, PH2, and PH3) of a major construction development in Al Taweela. The scope covers the complete lifecycle of the VRF system installation, from copper piping and drainage to the final commissioning of outdoor and indoor units, ensuring high-efficiency climate control for the entire residential/commercial complex.
Detailed Implementation
Our team is currently managing the specialized mechanical works for this project, adhering to the strict technical standards required by Tornado Group and Abu Dhabi building regulations. The work is being executed across the following technical stages:
1. Copper Piping & Refrigerant Circuitry
- Installation: Laying of high-grade refrigerant copper pipes across all 320 units.
- Brazing & Jointing: Expert silver brazing of joints and installation of Y-joints (Refnet joints) to ensure balanced refrigerant flow.
- Pressure Testing: Conducting nitrogen pressure tests at specific intervals (typically 24–48 hours) to ensure a 100% leak-proof system before refrigerant charging.
2. Indoor & Outdoor Unit (IDU/ODU) Positioning
- IDU Installation: Precise mounting of indoor units (fan coil units) according to the approved architectural layouts, ensuring proper vibration isolation.
- ODU Commissioning: Installation of heavy-duty outdoor condenser units on designated roof areas or platforms, utilizing anti-vibration pads to protect the building structure.
3. Drainage & Insulation Systems
- Condensate Management: Installation of UPVC drainage piping with proper sloping to ensure efficient removal of condensation water.
- Thermal Insulation: Application of high-density elastomeric foam insulation (e.g., Armaflex) on all refrigerant lines to prevent energy loss and sweating in the Abu Dhabi heat.
4. Electrical & Control Wiring
- Implementation of communication wiring (Daisy-chain) between indoor and outdoor units to facilitate the VRF’s intelligent "Variable Flow" logic.
- Connection to central control systems and thermostats for individual zone temperature management.
5. Phase-Wise Execution (PH1, PH2, PH3)
